A lot of folks like her got it back in the 80s before they really screened people donating blood and plasma for HIV. I think in London, like 2000 people died back in the late 80s cuz of HIV plasma donations.
Way I see it is, if she didn't want to field questions she would've never revealed that info.

everybody still says blood transfusion b/c there's no stigma attached to it, even though less than 1% of people get it that way now

about a decade ago the world health organization spilled the beans and said the heterosexual HIV/AIDS crisis was over
that caused some drama obviously, but behind the scenes is where real change started
they quit funding all marketing and research for heterosexual HIV/AIDS and started focusing primarily on the LGBT community (like they do now)
remember those "rap it up" ads on BET? they quietly stopped all of that, it was targeting the wrong communities

i saw some documentary with a white south african couple where the wife had hiv and the husband was negative. he really didnt care about protection and kept downplaying the doctor's concerns. by the end of the documentary, he was positive
