They were the first university to incorporate a black cultural studies program in the nation …make sure he takes a few of those electives … Davey D teaches a course on hip hop I believeI haven't asked him yet.

Congrats to him! That’s my alma mater. It may not be one of the “big names”, but it’s near one of the biggest tech hubs in America, as well as having opportunities to enter the public sector, which pays way better than expected if you work for the city and county of SF.
Campus is small and more commuter based, but if he lives on campus, he will have a great time if he stays in the dorms
Tell him to apply for scholarships immediately, try and get a part time job, and even apply for ebt (you are eligible if you work part time or get offered work study, even if you don’t use it, while being a full time student). SF is expensive, but there’s ways to make it work as a college student
