Whenever I hear people from Spanish-speaking countries call themselves "Spanish" but have never been within 1000 miles of the peninsula, I always think like

most "Americans" are people from the US who call themselves American even though technically the America's are more than just the 50 states. Hispanics usually refer to themselves by country like Americans from the US identify by state (unless they're deciding to be extra racist that day)

Many do refer to themselves as that. Me da igual. It's just funny. You can go on brownpride or migente and see usernames all referring to Espana, yet they'll be in Mexico City, LA, or Chitown. ......Hurts me none, but I just like to catch the little buggers in their own delusions.

if you been around Latinos you would know "spanish" is just a lazy way of identifying themselves you can't take it in literal terms..its identifying them by there language not origin... when its all said and done they identify as latino/hispanic or whatever respective country they originate from.....
