What kind of defense were McGrady and Durant playing? Durant is good now but it took years of work. Put Dirk out there on the playground and he's gone light it up.

You must be a young kid. When T-Mac was in Toronto playing with Vince Carter, he was mostly known for his ELITE defense. The fact he turned into a scoring champion at Orlando turned out to be a surprise.
Its hard to play elite defense all the time when your team counts on you to score 30 points per game. The only players in NBA history to do that while playing elite defense is Kobe and Jordan.
However, when they needed to, T-Mac and Durant were ELITE defenders. Durant now is playing elite defense cause he got other guys on the Warriors to carry the scoring load. And T-Mac did the same when he was in Toronto playing second fiddle to Vince Carter.
Every player in my Top 10 list were ELITE both offensively and defensively. They were also ELITE athletes with ELITE size and length for their position.
You can't be one of the 10 best players in NBA history and not be FREAKISH in every way.
That's why ya'll need to stop mentioning names like Magic, Bird, and Dirk. Those guys were not freakish athletes. And they had serious flaws when it came to defense. Just because they won championships or have had media hyping them as all-time great don't make them so.
