It would mostly depend on the states acting in good faith, which, with the current GOP’s leadership admittedly ready to go all in on Medicare and Social Security, which they consider “entitlements”, right after this tax bill is signed, is not going to be a good look for our most vulnerable citizens. I have ZERO faith in these crooks and elites to do the “right” thing, ever.

Based on everything we've seen this congress with regards to healthcare and moving money from medicaid/SS/ETC to help pay for tax cuts, you can't honestly believe the block grant framework would be anything other than a failure with regard to coverage.

Correct me if I'm wrong, you trust the federal govt. more than you do the states? so anything that shifts healthcare to the state level is a no go?

I live in North Carolina. Outside of Charlotte and Durham I don't want anyone in the state of NC deciding anything that has to do with helping people.

I trust the ACA, which is bi-partisanly extremely popular in regards to citizens. Both parties are way too tribal right now, and as a bleeding heart lib, in this current political climate, the ACA is as close as we will get to UHC, if these r’s Would stop trying to destroy it and let it do what it do, the health care industry and more importantly the patients would be a lot better off. Block grants essentially keep funding at a fixed level instead of allowing states to get funding based off how in demand services are. Essentially it's a way to underfund the system

Seems like there just needs to be some change to this part of the block grant idea and you might be able to rock with it?

If you read the op I was referencing the often cited healthcare system in Canada which uses block grants...
From what i gather is that wont work here because of racist/idiots at the state level.
This sentiment doesn't carry over to the federal level tho...
I'd definitely support a block grant system that allowed states to craft their own healthcare as long as every citizen() was covered.
Seems like a much better compromise than the ACA and its mandate.
