I have separation anxiety. Work is gonna be 10 times rougher without having her to text and talk too. Which will drive me into more drinking.
It’s time to be a man.
And what happens if you don't drink?
Really? What's literally going to happen to you when everything sucks and is hard and you don't drink? Your heart going to stop? You going to have trouble breathing? Walking?
Think about all the literal consequences of not drinking, write them on paper. Don't just take a mental note. For real write them on paper.
You might not get them all in 2 minutes. It make take a day or 2. Or even a week.
Just don't drink and write down the consequences. And when they seem to be getting worse, write down the consequences of the consequences.
For instance when I stopped snacking at work. I wrote it down. No m&m's, no chips, no cookies, doughnuts or popcorn or any candies. Some of the consequences were it made me less socialable (at first). Another consequence was that I would actually get hungry and want a snack, just a lil something to tide me over. Another one was I might get stressed and want a snack. When abstaining there were consequences. My stomach might growl, a couple times I felt tired, I might get a small headache that a piece of chocolate would take away. After about 3 days those all faded and I was just used to not snacking.
Had to practice starting the new week. Coming in an not snacking, going home Friday not having snacked. At some point it was just repetition and now I don't really think about it.
