I miss having music on my profile. That was revolutionary to me, I was 12 when I first started using it.Myspace was a pretty decent way to discover good music.
I'm not sure any artists really got big off Myspace, but I remember listening to a couple of cool no-name bands back then.
The “browse by miles away” and “online now” features while on tour was fukkin gold
Im still not sure how I didn’t end up with 90 baby mommas and 42 premium exotic std’s
This is a good point actually. I remember Facebook being used to organise parties, network with other students etc.yup.. promoting back then was amazing.
facebook at the start had similar dope social skills that could be use for business if people were tapped in like that.
Example:
Facebook when you created an event (a party as example) you could invite all your friends, so if I had 5k friends, I could hit select all and it would invite them all. Rather they came or not, it didnt matter, it was great way to get eyes on an event. This later got reduced, and now I believe is completely gone to my knowledge.
Another one was Facebook had a calendar you could open that had everyone birthdays, so you could look at the calendar for the month and tell people to celebrate their birthday with you and you'd give them a comp champagne, etc or take care of all their friends. Packing clubs was cake walk then.
Funny how more popular social media became (becomes?) the less actual social it becomesI mean some of these things needed to be put in check for spam purposes but I aint hear any complaints
if people didnt fukk with it, they unfollowed you
Honestly, Instagram hasnt really innovated much since the DM (which isnt really innovative, since private messages been around a long time prior). Stories/filters like snapchat really aint add much to the platform if im being honestSocial media kind of stagnant
I remember Justin Timberlake copped and flipped it. He said he was gonna use it to showcase independent artists, but then he sold it for a profitBy the way,
Didn't Tom sell Myspace for like $500M and then it wound up only being worth like $5M a few years later once Facebook took off?
I thought I read something like this.
