Was is the key word in your post. This nikka's last album was over 10 years ago. It's also 2012 and a lot of rappers that have fans aren't going gold.
A bunch of Drake and Wayne features couldn't help this nikka go gold. He'll be lucky to get a release with the way they do things over at Cash Money.

exactly. these cats dont even realize that mystikal was one of the most genuinely popular rappers of the late '90s, before "shake it fast", "danger", etc even came out.
rappers like him always have a place as long as they get good enough promotion and can drop a hit single or 2.
