Lol, yeah you're not lying. I lived in the West side during my childhood growing up. We later moved. There are certain sections I wouldn't walk through by myself. it sounds lame to some, but I do it for safety reasons. The areas near sun life stadium further out North and East are really improving. I do see that they are trying to clean up the West side.
Yeah, Miami Gardens is trying hard to improve and clean up. But there was that stop-and-frisk fiasco from a couple years ago. But Jazz In The Gardens seems to be a positive yearly event that attracts the biggest names in Jazz. And what was a Nigerian doing living in the hood of Miami Gardens. How the heck did your family end up there, instead of Houston, DC, or Atl?

I know which gang you're talking about. He mentioned Boobie Boys. Yeah, Orlando's urban culture is heavily influenced by South Florida. And many Miami drug dealers used to be migratory, and used to move throughout Florida, and the whole Southern United States, and up through DC in the 1980's(similar to migratory New York dealers going down South, and migratory Los Angeles dealers/gang-members heading East towards NV, TX, MO, etc). There was a loosely affiliated group of drug dealers in particular deemed "The Miami Boys" who used to move throughout the east-coast from Miami to DC. I'm sure Miami 's slangology, customs, and culture has infiltrated many towns in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, Louisiana, etc, back in the 80's. Orlando is still influenced by Miami. Especially those loos knotty dreads that many people(such as TheWeeknd) rock. In Miami they call those "Wicks"
I wonder if thatthat's Wayne decide to get dread up like that

yeah miami got big influence in all parts of Florida but alot sf cats ppl move out to live in central or tampa if they still want to live in Florida but in a place thats less expensive

Those tolls is fukinh expensive tho

I don't think it's mostly anything in Broward. You got cacs, Hispanics, Jamaican, Caribbean people etc. A true mix of cultures. Something that Miami is not. fukking Cuban land. Ugh

My fathers business crashed and things got really bad for him financially, so I spent a good portion of my childhood on the West side of Miami Gardens. My home school was Carol City Middle, but my parents sent me to Lake Stevens Middle. My dad came to Miami and had a good business going so he stayed. Contrary to popular belief there are a lot of Africans that grew up in the hood, lol. One of my family friends grew up in the hoods of Minneapolis. People always think that since we are Africans that were raised in America we are filthy rich, LOL. Don't get me wrong my family in Nigeria is doing pretty good, but my parents weren't sitting on thousands of dollars worth of gold, lol.

There is a large African community in Atlanta? I've heard this a few times, but I didn't know.

Yeah, Atlanta has one of the largest Nigerian communities. I was just wondering how a Nigerian ended up in Miami. I know there are Africans who live in the hood. But Miami? Miami's Nigerian and sub-Saharan African population is probably larger than I thought.

Broward might be the most diverse of the three. But Palm Beach County's Hispanic community is totally different from Browards or Miami's. While Broward and Miami's Hispanic population is predominantly Latinos from South America and the Caribbean, while most of Palm Beach County's Hispanics are from Central America(Guatemala, Honduras) and Mexico.

It's not large like the Haitian community in North Miami. I grew up in an African America/Afro Caribbean neighborhood. Most people that meet me assume that I am Bahamian. I know that a good number of Nigerians live in South broward, but I wouldn't call it a community. There are Nigerians sprinkled here and there. Then again during Nigerian independence day we do have community partied and little parades.
