I actually disagree with this one. I obviously dont rock with them for their racism and belittling of lower economic classes; but republicans are exceptionally talented at funneling money into corporations with huge R&D budgets.

Id cite the defence industry's b-22 bombers, the recent low cost army vaccine, and the cyborgs that DARPA is currently building at Berkley. This isnt just limited to public military expenditure either. Same could be said for govt contracts that went to Tesla during Trmp's era for starlink or subsidies/grants that went to monsanto's biolabs (both under bush and Trmp).


So when it comes to physical innovation republicans are pretty talented. Its the social innovations and restructuring that they suck at.

They're good at funneling money to existing industries. When it comes to innovations that will displace an existing industry (e.g., oil and gas, tobacco), they're trash. They protect existing industry at the expense of new, even when society would benefit. This underpins their anti-weed stance too. They're why we're going to fall behind Green Tech when we desperately need it.
