I truly believe dmx had a bunch of ghostwriters for his first album. It was def jam. They probably had a pool of talented writers.

When i listen to tracks like damien or stop bein greedy it makes me think this. Those are all really dope conceptual ideas that i dont think one man could come up with on his own. Espicially not a dmx crackhead who admittingly hates being in the studio. He said this on the MTV diary doc.

Not only that, but i clearly remember him going to the studio in the mtv doc and all the lyrics were already written on a notepad for him so he could get right to work in the booth.

I love dmx and everything but i truly believe that. Still, his mic presence and energy are top 5 of all time. No one else could have made that album sound the way it did.
U wrong as shyt. And obviously couldnt have really followed X like that. Not only did he have the same type of themed songs on his next few albums. Most of the songs on his first album was old as hell. Just remade to sound current. On every album up into the 4th album he had Damien’s and his conversations with God. Stop Being Greedy wasnt the only song he did in that manner as well.

Nah.

The reason is becuz alot of his lyrics were written when he was younger and/or battling on the streets. He even say in his book E.A.R.L. that
he never liked wasting lyrics, which is why you'll hear him spit written downs off old/unreleased songs when he freestyles.

I think he, like Joe Budden etc, is an artist who almost has to go through something (incl. drugs and alcohol) to write the best shyt. Pac
was the same but i think a difference was that Pac also wrote poetry and studied in art school so he was prolly better at writing fiction tales or
pulling from stories around him when need be. Also he wasnt addicted to hard drugs (that we know of)
