I liked Gambit in the cartoon as a kid, until I got into the comics and realized that he was basically the X-men version of this dude:
I also liked the series better before they retconned Jean's death on the moon (she should have stayed dead after the Dark Phoenix Saga IMO), so to me, the characters that were active before she came back >>>>>>> the characters that joined afterwards.
