I thought Thrilla in Manilla should've been the last fight for both Frazier and Ali. Broke the tie between them. A huge pay day for both with nothing left to prove after. But I get it for Ali. When there's still millions to make per fight I understand why they keep fighting. The saddest to me are the one that still push on fighting in front of hundreds of people for thousands of dollars.
Boxing is something you have to dedicate so much of yourself to that it’s almost impossible to build a second career outside of the sport for retirement from the sport while doing it, unless you’re blessed with immense celebrity. Add into it almost none of these guys were scholars or anything coming in and it’s a recipe for something people do until they’re past the point where it’s reasonable to do it. Plus there’s never gonna be anything they can do in life that’s gonna give them anywhere near that same kind of rush again.

So brehs, what do ya'll think of Bernard Hopkins?

Fought until he was like 52. Do you think he should have retired sooner even though he was still getting impressive victories and winning titles?

The Kovalev fight would have been an “honorable” way to go out. Almost 50 years old, and going 12 with a younger champ with a big punch.

Hopkins at times had a tendency to put on the theatrics (such as the Calzaghe fight) but there was none of that against Kovalev. He was all heart and took his beating like a champ.

Leavandar Johnson should’ve never fought again after Emmanuel Augustus. I think this was the fight I remembered he took a lot of shots and never looked right after. I said I didn’t want to watch another fight with him because I felt his career would not end well health wise. I ended up watching him lose his title to Jesus Chavez and after the stoppage he was dragging his leg. He collapsed in the dressing room and died a week later.

Zab should have stopped after Paulie.

Roy after he escaped Tarver the 1st time, but I understand why he didn’t.

Oba Carr probably should’ve retired way before but definitely De La Hoya should’ve been it. Biggest payday. He is in a wheelchair now.

I remember leavander having a great story..winning the title on his 4th try and it was all good...watching live as Chavez really worked him over..he was one and done..unfortunately:smh: RIP

Oba carr was just unfortunate..facing 3 ATGs in their primes..it's wild the damage he took is the reason he can't walk no more..the headshots took away his ability to walk smh

jeff lacy - left hook was my dude...i even owned this nikka's handwraps he endorsed back in the day when i was boxing regularly..its always going to be fukk calzaghe for what he did..straight up..the beginning of the end came when he tore his shoulder apart in the rematch against that russian cat..came back and had no power and was struggling left and right..barely winning these fights...then him and jermain taylor face off and taylor beats the shyt outta this nikka man :smh:..finally the fight with roy jones...and he made roy jones in 2010..41-42 years old of him look vintage..roy stops him..that should have been it..but lacy went on...getting beat by prospects and flat out journeymen...he fell so hard :sadcam:

jeff horn really should have been trying to get easy fights after beating manny and then just get out on top...

berchelt looked dangerously compromised in the nakathila fight. he won after it but i think there are going to be some long lasting consequences the more punishment he takes.
