for me, when you think of early laface, you obviously think tlc, toni braxton, & usher etc.

but the 1st act that had hits on laface (and maybe the most important) was

and when i think of the early "laface sound" that was so prevalent, this song always comes to mind, the song/group that started their run to me. they never blew up like most of the other acts on the label. but def one of my favs.

Y’all dropping hella one hit wonders...like great, here’s your dap, but did you really think all the people you’re dropping had next? Ipthere has to be a little more substance behind it than just one hit - connections/label/ porkducer, having a few singles and one that did extremely well, them getting coverage, an album or two

A lot of songs being posted in here I could tell the person/group wasn’t gonna be around past that hit :beli:

Did you think Destiny's Child would blow up to be as big as they did after No No No? It all starts with one hit. After that it's all about marketing and opportunities.

Jesse Powell was too cold brehs .

His second album was even better:wow:

Rhonda Roussell (lead singer of So Plush) should've had my babies :noah:

I thought Sammie had next after hearing this .

I think Blu Cantrell got blackballed after talking about when she fukked Jay-Z on her DVD included in her second album , not for getting nude for Black Tail magazine twice .

As for the magazines, I have both copies :shaq:

She had no one to blame there for that but herself .

I was a big fan of Christina Milian before she started getting ran through by producers to get a hit.

Pass on Umbrella brehettes .

Amerie wasn't all into being a star IMO . I remember her disappearing from the scene for years while her buzz was huge.

If she stayed with it , the industry would have looked a lot different today.

Karina unfortunately was too young at the time to get pushed the way record companies wanted to push female artists at the time

These dudes had the juice but :takedat: had too many R&B dudes on his label at the time.

I think B5 got Chris Stoked by Diddy though.

IV Example got a raw deal . Their debut album is iconic .

Blame Beyonce for any female artist after 2008.
