70s they're called a classic rock band for a reason.
Some of their greatest hits came far after the 1970s.

The point is you can't take (for example) a team that might form in 1978 or 1979...and act like they're a 1970s band.
That's just stupid.

It has way more to do with when you actually rise to prominence.
AC/DC is not a 1970s band.
They just aren't.

All these bands over most music today. Outside of rap and house... I live and die for 80's pop rock.

Listen to this on a daily basis.

If you're talking that 80's new wave/alt tip.

The Smiths were cool but I would put,

Tears for Fears
Depeche Mode
The Cure
Adam and the Ants
Talking Heads
The Pixies
Level 42
The Clash

over them

again.. 70's band.. :snoop:

I see where you are coming from but even though they dropped music in the late 70's, most people base it off their prime, which was the early 80's. Even though London Calling dropped in 79' in Britain it came out here in 1980 and really sonically it really set the tone for the 80's.

Late 60s/early 70s is my favorite as far as rock goes

They just aren't.
Some of their biggest songs are from the 70s...and their original lead singer was already dead less than 2 months into the 80s
