just because right wing nationalists were able to takeover an established party doesn't mean jacobin readers will be able to take over the democratic party. why not just ignore the party and support one that fits your views? it's not like the democrats have any power that you'll be missing out on if you ignore the two party tradition. all this bytching about how the democrats aren't sufficiently pure in their socialist ideology is pointless because they aren't a socialist party.

I agree with this.
People who want to transform the Dems into a socialist party are going down a road of failure.
The best that can be hoped for is moving it in a progressive direction with elected officials who support laws that would break the two-party monopoly on electoral power, but I don't really see folks talking about that... we need to use the party to pursue specific ends so that we can fully break with them (this is if we engage with them at all, which many would advise against from the get-go).
If you don't like her, vote her out. No idea why some of you expect a 80 yr old career politician like Pelosi to start adopting socialist rheoteric at this stage in her life/career.

Its not like their current strategy is doing them any favors. Their Diet-Republican position is the reason why we have Trump + repubs controlling the country.
The kid is using one data point to infer that the party run on what is a guaranteed electoral loser. 18-29 is a big voting bloc and so is the 30+ voting bloc. The difference is that some voting blocs are more vocal than others which creates the impression in the students mind that a position against capitalism would work. Some people on the right can have similar beliefs but vote solely on social issues.
