Have to mention the Great Depression and how it impacted Germany.
People and organizations who openly laughed at Hitler and the Nazis years earlier, were more willing to listen as economy collapsed.
And the people demanded immediate actions and solutions from the (then) current leadership.

Bad economy, low national morale . Perfect conditions for the propaganda that Hitler was peddling.

Astounding that she still thinks that this is just an extreme wing of the party when it's not. This is the Republican party as a whole and the sooner democrats realize it the better. The only thing Trump did was accelerate the shift farther right. We also have to understand that part of the reason for the shift farther right is Bill Clintons triangulation strategy that boxed them out on issues like crime, welfare, etc.
