Ridley Scott used to be my favorite director. I still think he’s top five all time because he was so versatile in his prime. He could do any genre at a high level with fantastic story telling motifs. However, this motafukka has lost it. Dude made a Napoleon movie and it’s mostly about his wife being a thot ?

There’s no real development of Napoleon’s military genius . This man wasted fukking Joaquin Phoenix . This needed to be like an 8 hour mini-series on Apple TV to really flesh things out.

Finally saw it... movie was ok but it was fukked from the get go.
You cant sum this mans life in 2 hours, especially if you spent half that time focused on his wife.

They kept jumping from one event to another, it was weird
I will watch the 4 hour cut.
This should have been a series and in french.

Thought it was alright for what it was.

Guess he wanted a more original approach with the wife angle as with The Emperor we could've got 6 hours of battles.

I’m watching the extended cut and it’s all right. The opening invasion battle scene felt promising, but it’s not even fleshing out Napoleon’s brilliant strategic mind. Just a bunch of scenes that push his history like any other biopic.

Phoenix is fine in the role, but nothing to praise about. Is it true he didn’t know how to play the character a week before shooting? That explains a lot.

Edit: took 1:45 mark to show another scene with his military strategy side.
