Jaraiya was that dude but that don't mean that Itachi wasn't that nikka too. I mean if it wasn't for his plot induced HIV this whole shyt would be different. They had to get him out the way bruh nikkas just going to ignore that.

Itachi didn't take Jiraiya on because he was a spy for the Leaf.

It wouldn't have been convincing if the other akatsuki member saw Itachi holding back so instead he decided to leave.

Itachi and Shark dude were supposed to get the 9 Tailed Fox but Itachi had no intention of actually doing so all along.

That's why Pain came and crushed the buildings because they 'failed'. This is the kind of manga where you have to look back at what happened in the past and see it in a new context after you get extra information on the background of what happened before.

Don't try to make sense of these dumb ass nikkas not understanding the context in which the 1st said itachi was a better ninja(see:man) than he is. He simply meant that the sacrifice itachi made for the village was something that even he himself would probably have a problem doing. Especially considering how the 2nd made the uchiha out to be overly emotional beings, he had to kill all his feelings/ties to his clan on a totally different level.

But then again, these are the same mofos that deduced from one panel than the 2nd was gonna off Sasuke with one finger completely ignoring Amaterasu/Susano'o/Perfect Susano'o/Whatever new upgrade he got with the EMS. Sasuke barely survived Raikage, the 2nd Hokage would give him that WORK. His only redeeming possibility is that his element is Lightning and the 2nd Hokage's Element is Water. But then again we're dealing with a Kage here, one who is well versed in the bullshyt of the Uchiha and did not bat an eye when he saw that Sasuke had his cheat codes fully activated. He was ready to give him work with full benefits and sick leave til 1st Hokage told him to chill.

Itachi knew his own abilities before they were ever revealed, and he still avoided conflict. You're not making any point by itemizing Itachi's arsenal. Itachi knows he can do all of that and he *still* didn't want to fight.
