Regardless if u think it's classic or boring and over rated
I think it's amazing that he started working on it at 17/18 years old
He was still a little kid from the projects
With pretty much no formal education
I don't even think he went to high school

:snoop: did you ever listen to the album???

and you from Queens? :comeon:

"the school dropout, never liked the shyt from day one.."

"this for the high school dropouts.."

"i dropped out of coolie high.."

i mean cmon :shaq2:

I dont get why ur questioning if I've listened to the album
All indications show that he never went to high school but I don't know him personally and don't recall him talkin about it
A lot of people don't like school, doesn't mean they drop out in middle school
He was referring to coolie high the movie based on the high school in Chicago

According to wikipedia he was born in '73. Are you suggesting he recorded Illmatic in 90-91? :leostare:

Greatest example of a hip-hop album for me, to the point, beats tight, lyrics dense and complex

He was born towards the end of 73
He recorded live at the BBQ in 90
He then started recording for his album
He released his demo in 91 which has some tracks on Illmatic
He released halftime in 92

It got me thinking
Some of the lyrics might've been written at 15/16 if the demo came out when he was 17

It took Nas 4 years to record a 9 track EP full of borderline Dr. Suess level nursery rhymes?

Then took him almost 3 years to go GOLD off of 4 years of work?
