I know Tupac's "Dear Momma" is probably the gold standard as far as hip hop songs about Moms goes...But I'd have to put "Dance" over it. Both songs are great. But I feel like "Dance" was more heartfelt. well....maybe that's a bad word for it, let's say more "current" for the time frame it happened in, because it actually spilled over into the rest of that entire cd. "If Heaven Was A Mile A Away" Etc...Nah this isn't a Nas Vs Tupac thread, just talking about the songs themselves. and for me when his pops come thru on the Harmonic shyt gets :sadbron:

But post up and speak your piece.

God Son is a classic CD.

But naw Dear Mama takes this one. Just too much raw emotion from Pac. You felt every lyric.

Well, Nas Mom had just passed, so...I don't know about that. Pac voice is better of course.

And actually his mom passing made this one of the most depressing cd's of all time to listen too. it's nas only cd that was actually just for the time it came out.

dear mama and it's not even close!

You can't be a hip hop fan, not because you said that, but because you said it wasn't close. cuz Nas album suffered because of his moms death. And I'm not trying to bring grief into it. But you can tell those were real feels.

I could easily have put up Ghostface Killah "all that I got is u" against. "Dear Momma" and I bet it would win.

I am speaking about the music output and not what happened during the recording etc..dear mama is a great record and its pretty timeless..I have been hip hop before you was born (most likely) so please with that nonsense.

My homie got married a few yrs ago and at his wedding reception, he did a solo dance with his moms in the middle of the dance floor as everyone looked on.

I kid you not brehs, grown men, goons some of the hardest nikkaz I know were in there with tears in their eyes off that scene. I wasn't crying tho, I held my own

Like I said "All that I got is you" make folks cry. too. But it's still not a better song.
