Nas is on a whole different planet than everyone else, I’m pretty sure of that. And Preme shocked me with how dope the production was straight through. It gave a very 80s and 90s underground vibe, but fresh. Zero complaints with Preme.The are no bad beats here. Preemo does a good production job. The problem (if there is one) is that Nas is somewhere in the clouds with it on this album. Preemo, while good, just isn't at Nas' altitude here. So maybe he concluded that a more muted (or minimalist as you say) soundscape was best...because Nas is going crazy. The production already sounds better on second listen though, so I will hold off on a review/opinion for a while.
