Facts.

People just be on here saying whatever. OutKast didn't miss ever, while they were recording together. They dropped flawless classics like it was nothing. Kanye was another one, who was unstoppable for mad albums. Kendrick too. Nas is my guy, but he got shaky after just two albums.
I argue with you a lot on here but I respect your opinions, one thing is nas may never get shaking if the double album is leaked all over Napster

look anyways to go back to the original point- I also think coming on the heels of the De la album people expected a level on quality that is just not here production wise

I do think this album raises nas honestly cuz he carreid what is an awful produced album to being a decent project at least

In all honesty, and I've said this before on here, the only two Nas albums I really f*ck with post-2012, are Magic and Light Years. Nas been one of my favorite rappers since I was a kid and heard "Live at the BBQ" for the first time.

But his catalogue got shaky and weird after the OG I Am situation. His casual fans wanting him to be the anti-Jay-Z thing didn't help either, lol. He's probably in my Top 3-4 MC's of all-time, but he's been wild inconsistent since IWW. And that was almost 30 years ago.

I actually dont think people have "moved on" i think if it was really good it would still sound really good it just wasnt...the production was anywhere from decent to straight up bad

People don’t really hype anything except maybe the first Prhyme album (which I finally went back and listen in full and was so so on )

And again he’s made better stuff lube that last Gangstarr project in 2019 but both projects are going back years now

The ROC and Ranson EPs also had a mixed reaction

The thing is, people keep blaming Primo like he forced Nas to hop on those beats.

The album went through various versions. Nas was running the show and shaping what he thought would work. The green light comes from him, not Premier. He's there to make Nas happy, is what he said. They were going for a sound that worked for day-one fans like myself and people I know. So that's success.

It might not work for everybody. But for those of us who knew what was coming, we love the album. They gave us exactly what they said they would.

Yeah Nas directed but I’m saying the people that were dissapointed also sound like they thought Preem was gonna hop into the 98 Time Machine or something and sound like D&D and that hasn’t been a thing for awhile

People’s overall reaction to this album overall sounded like they had their expectations out of wack and I say that as someone who still like the album

That's my point though.

Those people aren't day one Premier fans. He said from the beginning that he was "taking it back to the essence". He referenced all the things that he was trying to capture from his sound in the beginning. So people should've known he was going back to his No More Mr. Nice Guy days because Nas wanted to pay homage to the golden era and that time. They said they were going back to '89 on this album. And they did.

That's why I'm saying, this was for a particular listener. If you weren't there in '89, those people wouldn't get it. Which is what we saw, lol. But for those of us who love that era and were raised in it, this was right on point for us. Premier said they made the album for that kinda fan.

That's my exact 5 favorite Nas projects right there (excluding The Lost Tapes).
