BRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOKKKKKKLLLLLYYYYYNNNN
Listened a couple times…I’m not sure if I’m gonna get shyt on for this, and I need to preface this by saying I love Nas & Preemo, and I genuinely thinks Nas is the GOAT

But I think this is genuinely the worst Nas album iv ever heard, even that Kanye album had more standouts and it had 7 tracks on it
Ok, I thought i was tripping.

Nıggas ears is atrocious :scusthov:

Reminds me of when Wyclef produced Canibus debut album....

Yea this production just isn't good. The hit-boy stuff is miles better

The 1st three tracks thru me off :hubie: .By NYSTOM Pt3 i almost had a heart attack:francis:

Album picked up a bit on Welcome to the Underground (i love this track).
As far as concepts though, Nas delivered in abundance....
Favs....Writers, Welcome to the Underground, Junkie, Nasty Esco Nasir, 3rd Childhood (lazy recycled chorus from Premo though)
This aint knocking down any of Nas & Hitboy albums except maybe Magic2 ..even M2 had higher highs than those here.
Magic - KD2 - KD3 - Magic3 are light years ahead of this album:picard:
This is not cracking my top 10-12 Nas albums.
.
Premo fckd up

I retired from writing album reviews but this project is really giving me the itch to cook something up one more time.

This is truly truly an incredible piece of work. I didn’t think Nas could possibly top what he did lyrically and flow-wise on Magic, Kings Disease 3, Magic 2 and Magic 3. All of those albums he was rapping his absolute ASS off but its crazy listening to Light-Years its clear he still had another level to reach. I also think its for certain now that he used, at the very least the last three Hit-Boy projects as warm ups for this right here. The flows he’s able to pull off so effortlessly, the precision of the writing, the pockets with which he’s rapping, are all God Tier. There are no wasted bars, which is why the minimalist production on some of the tracks works in Nas favor. Premier understood that Nas’s lyricism is always going to be the star of the show, so he doesn’t try to compete with Nas, rather he gives him a sonic landscape with which to craft his vignettes that serve as the ultimate love letter to an era that many consider the very backbone of Hip Hop.

I’ve got to give it more spins & the whip test before I could possibly rank it within Nas discography. But I can safely say this is my Album of The Year. There’s not a single human being living on planet earth who could have done what Nas did on this album. And DJ Premier did NOT disappoint. This batch of beats are some of his best work since 2019’s One Of The Best Yet. He came to show and he indeed PROVE.

But NAS man. The only thing more I can say is that the following is exactly how I feel about Nas over the last five years.
