Will give more thoughts later, but I like the album

Some of the concerns around production are valid, but also overblown

This is the most backpacker 5 elements album Nas has made and that's a good thing

A lot of fan service on the album too

Some of the beats don't do it for me, maybe 3-4 but I mostly like everything else on here

I like the NYSOM beat

I second this. For me this album really picks up on the second half. I was glad to hear Nas/AZ as a duo once again.

NY State of Mind Pt. 3 hits with such a dark, gritty edge -- ❄️🥶❄️🥶❄️. I had my doubts though spotting it on the tracklist and hearing that Billy Joel sample initially, but they absolutely did their thing . Feels like a throwback to early Jeru the Damaja vibes or tracks from Hell Hath No Fury. It's got that same brooding orchestral atmosphere Salaam Remi infused into A Queens Story.

uh..... NaS rapped his åss off on this one... :wow:

musically, this is different... i'm going to have to sit with this one... the rapping might carry it....

so far, these are the ones i liked the most...
my life is real, git ready, writers, it's time, junkie, shine together, 3rd childhood.....

i didn't like the overall composition of bouquet (to the ladies) but NaS flowed lyrical and i loved how he shouted out all the female rappers, including sweet tee, conscious daughters, heather b, and nonchalant <-- those four are so overlooked, i'm amazed he knew of them -- he really did his research...

my first impression is musically this is not what i'd expect from NaS... lyrically, he stepped up... 4 stars on first listen.....

edit: i can understand people not liking it, it is different... but on second listen this sounds better than first listen.....

out!

The fact he shouted out Ice Cream Tee was CRAZY. I’ve only ever heard of her from DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince’s debut album Rock The House, which was the FIRST ever rap album I brought with my own money when I was 11 years old. She was on Guys Ain’t Nothin But Trouble.

This album was an ode to different elements of hip hop

Album is 8/10 for me

I knew Nas would deliver, Primo did better then I expected but the production won't please everyone

Stand out tracks for me: Git Ready, Pause Tapes, Junkie, Shine Together

We need Alc, Hit & Preem to make beats together for Nas...Primo beats do have that knock that Hit lacks

Nas is timeless in this rap shyt
