Is it a minority? The dominant messaging I’m seeing is people being disappointed. Including in this thread.

It’s not about chemistry to me. Nas sounds comfortable on the beats, largely because the drums IMO. The issue is…there maybe 4-5 good or great beats on the album, and even those don’t really match what he’s given other rappers this year. Or last year.

It’s not a minority. At all. Like I told @Ziggiy when I see people who been praising Nas like crazy for the last few years expressing their disappointment and I can hit a timeline and see nothing but disappointment it’s not a minority. What’s minority is the visual of people that ABSOLUTELY LOVE and expressing it. I barely seen any of that. And majority of the issue is with Premo. Either that or the people who been BEGGING for Premo all these years while ignoring any other producer that works with Nas in denial and trying to blame Nas. lol.

The irrational hate of Hit never made sense. I agree the partnership ran its course but he got Nas reinvigorated and inspired to focus on hip hop again, never got the respect he deserved for that.

People got tired of seeing Hit-Boy's name on the album credits and wanted something new. Magic 3 was a great album, but to this day, it's underrated because it came right after the worst album in the series and everyone was fantasy booking about the possible Premier or Alchemist album they were hoping to get.

You wanted the Premier album? Good. Now you have it and you hate it because it's not the Premier album you wanted. I'm not saying you have to like the album, but to call it the worst Nas album you ever heard and think the production is terrible.......I can't take stuff like that seriously. Someone literally said Nasir was better. Nasir, the album everyone hated and never gets brought up by anyone except to make a dumbass point. Now, people are talking about how much they liked that album and saying that's the last time they felt Nas lyrically. Go get Kanye and tell him to run it back one more time. I'm sure he'll do a way better job than Premier ever could. :russ:

Nas fans are like WWE fans. They see a guy like Hit-Boy getting pushed, winning titles, being in the main event. At first, they love him, then they get tired of him and want somebody else (Premier, Alchemist, Pete, etc.) getting that push. Now, Premier is in the main event like they wanted and they can't stand it because he's not someone they can champion anymore. They want Nas to make music with anybody except the guy he's currently working with, because the fantasy got taken away from them and now, they have to deal with the reality that they'll never get what they want. :dead:

Crazy how timelines work. Most of MY timeline is people praising the album with a minority saying the production isn’t for them.

Like Salaam Remi being public enemy number one because he was keeping Nas from working with the Illmatic producers. Even though he produced some of Nas best songs ever and they a classic album worth of material together. All he had to do to get respect was stop working with Nas :mjlol:

To be honest F U C K the minority naysayers who don’t appreciate the album. Those who the album was made for appreciate it. Early reviews are positive. Its number 1 on itunes in 10 countries now. Number 4 on Apple Music (and climbing)

It was always going to be a tall order satisfying everyone and so Nas & Preme decided to do what felt right for THEM which was to make a project that paid homage to all five elements of this thing we call Hip Hop. Its a beautiful love letter to the pillars of the genre. That which every Artist, DJ, and Producer stands on when they make a dollar doing this.

man I first heard nas back in early 1994 when I was 16. this was after live at the bbq and what not.

and ever since songs like ny state of mind and represent, I have wanted to hear this EXACT album. decades after being teased, to see this actually come to fruition is 🤯.

and it's not like they phoned it in. they both did their thing. I don't care what anyone says. outside of guru (and perhaps jeru), there is no other rapper that primo has this level of chemistry with.

Like I said kid I like the album but the criticism is UNDERSTANDABLE. shyt gotta kinda grow on u. The fact that it’s so polarizing when it was supposed to be a home run is where the failure lies.
