Streaming has always been retarded to count as a sale. It never made sense and never will. And it’s VERY easily manipulated.

I'm not sure I believe the manipulation moves the needle more than what labels were doing in the mid/late 90s and early 00s when it comes to shipped vs sold lol. The fukkery today costs more than its worth and you don't really get anything from it. Remember the fukkery Joel Ortiz was doing a couple years ago with fake Youtube streams, when he was trying to get Budden to get in the booth? If nobody cares about the music it doesn't matter what you try to do. I remember when Drake dropped Scorpion and people complained that he had tracks on jazz playlists and every other playlist imaginable. Yea I guess that helped but end of the day my mom, who doesn't fukk with rap besides like 12 songs (mostly Pac, Em, Coolio, and If I Ruled The World), was dancing to multiple tracks from that album all year. Everybody heard In My Feelings, God's Plan etc. The shyt was undeniable, the playlists really didn't matter.

I don’t know why there’s all this lamenting about his sales and throwing 5k when that’s not even confirmed or real. It’s also weird that Drake stans are saying Nas “picked a side” on Twitter and saying all this goofy shyt. He probably did the same as Magic 3

Going forward with the business model of indies and shipping after the date he probably won’t chart on billboard like that anymore and that’s probably by design for him. He’s only started to promote the album a week after its release on his socials so I’m sure they want to boost it

That’s all fine and dandy but this shyt isn’t reaching people and got a lukewarm reaction at best

The long awaited Nas and Premo album doing 5000 :picard:

And no matter how much he selling them vinyls or collectors items for the fact of the matter is profit isn’t being maximized nor is the art being digested at the level that it should

Nas is a legend, a multiplatinum artist he shouldn’t be doing niche Griselda numbers
nobody cares about album sales but drake/kendrick fans and teenagers. Do you own a record label or have you ever read a billboard magazine? I'm sure you haven  . They don't care about these streaming numbers/sales and neither should you. The thing that you don't realize is that the people who like the album are in my age group and most of us don't do streaming.

What do you need a video for? Listen to the damn music

When the fukk did hiphop become so commodified where you need all these in-universe tie-ins

Nas is an MC
Premier is a DJ

They make MUSIC

And as someone who has been a fan of both my whole life they did a damn good job

Criticisms on the beats, rhymes, sequencing etc is all valid but all that other shyt is dumb

He talked about this on Wu for the children. That’s why you can’t even talk to some people, they don’t focus on what you give them, only on what they projected you could give them

Music videos help enhance the music experience tho. There's some songs that I only started to appreciate when I saw the clip. Just imagine thriller without the video clips. I guarantee you pause tapes with a video clip would have a much better reception
