I think its 02 before Gods Son dropped. I distinctly remember Nas performing One Mic on a few late night television shows. That song was on FIRE during the spring/summer of 02

No Nas wasn’t muslim. You don’t have to be muslim to rock a Kufi. What he’s wearing in that performance isn’t even the “real” Kufi. What he had on on the Streets Disciple album cover is the “true” kufi.

Yup it's 02 from the Kilborn show, I used to watch a rip of this all the time back in the day.

Everything I’ve heard from Nas in interviews and music he kind of picks and chooses his own things from lots of diff religions. He talks about Jesus a lot but also mentions Muslim teachings and 5%er stuff when he was younger. I don’t think he follows anything specific. He even has some atheist shyt to him sometimes.

I always think about the poster we had on SOHH back then calling themself "The Kufi Smacker'. HAHA!!

Kufi Nas was too inconsistent though. That's the cac's favorite version of him. But Escobar-era Nas was peak Nas. Dude was seriously untouchable from '94-'99. Even his corny songs worked back then! Sh*t was crazy.
