I went back and listened to life is good and the album just isnt as good as i originally thought it was. At the time I was just amp to get some new nas music. Its decent but its no classic

it's really not. most people look back at wayne's catalog and realize he's always been trash and that they got caught up in the moment. he has not one great body of work to his name. plus that despicable auto rock album cemented his woatness. He is the reason young thug exists. icing on the woat cake.
I've never heard it get called a classic outside of a few stans. if you said that about stillmatic or iww that would make sense.

This is hands down one of the worst threads I've ever seen on here, the fact that it's getting support makes it one of the worst conversations I've ever seen pertaining to rap, and it not only hurts everyone's credibility who agrees but the credibility of the entire Booth. If an outsider stumbled onto this site and this was one of the first threads they'd seen on here they'd most likely never come back again or take this site seriously as a rap/hip-hop forum.

i feel like that about stillmatic too. Nas only defintive classic is illmatic and it was written is a personal classic for me

most rappers don't have more than one classic. a lot have none actually.
Most have none. 1 classic and 1 good album can put a rapper in the top 10 conversation, let alone having what is widely hailed as the greatest album in the history of the genre, and multiple other good to great albums. IWW, I Am, and Stillmatic are all great albums. God's Son, Street's Disciple, and Life is Good are all at the very minimum good albums. Throw in The Lost Tapes which is very good to great as well.
Nas' longetivity while never trying to make truly commercial cross-over pop singles should say all that needs to be said about him.

god's son and stillmatic are good, not great. I Am has 5 of the best nas songs(ny 2, nas is like, small world, we will survive, undying love) but also has 4 of the worst shyts he ever made(dr.knockboot, money is my bytch, won't see me tonight, kissing).
