I love him, he is definitely a top mcee but people need to stop calling illmatic the best album EVER.
it has been topped by other rappers and by Nas himself with IWW. Illmatic was that raw, hungry Nas stepping into the rap game with a message that was innovative for its time, but on It Was Written he improved his story telling capabilities and got better production (not that Illmatic didn't have amazing production, that shyt was AMAZING for its time). It Was Written also broke Nas into the mainstream and cemented his status as a rap legend with his hit single, "If I Ruled the World (Image That)."

Ok wait u love Nasir and have him way up there but because Illmatic is so high up on so many hip-hop lists he is also the most overrated artist ever regardless of genre. But then you say Jay Z & Biggie. U confused or something?

Illmatic is that album which used to be classic but turned into a complete dated shyt. Its impossible to listen to it without falling asleep.

All other albums are not even worth mentioning. They are straight up trash, besides a couple of tracks. His music is bland and boring, lacking any entertainment value.
Stop comparing him to Jay-Z or other Top 3 rappers please.
