Came in with low expectations. 2020 as a whole been trash. This and The Weekend album didn't let me down. Wasn't the Dream supposed to be on this album?

Second half of the album I'm feeling more. I wonder when he recorded each song cause he said he stopped at one point during the shutdown, and then started again.

Other PRODUCERS are showing this album love. You KNOW Hit Boy crafted some special shyt with this album.

The last time this happened for a Nas album was Life Is Good. Everyone was going OD complimenting Salaam and No I.D.

I don' think it's a coincidence. Nas is an artist. There are rappers who just go in a studio, pick a bunch of beats, and knock it out - for good or bad. Everything we know about Nas' creation process says he doesn't just record songs and move to the next. He lives with songs, he needs conversation on concepts/ideas, he needs to get to know the producer. He did that with No ID (and Salaam Remi) on LIG. He did it with Large Professor on Stillmatic (and Illmatic). Trackmasters+Steve Stoute on IWW. Hit Boy on King's Disease. And the results have all been great or classic.

It's like he operates like an artist from another genre, which makes sense. Same way Michael Jackson went back and forth with Quincy Jones. Same way David Bowie went back and forth with Brian Eno. It's not about giving someone beats and walking away. No one understands the best way to approach a beat than the guy who produced it.

Finally back home and settled,I must've played this album like 8 times during my drive today :russ:

First off, Nas is my GOAT so I'm biased up front :yeshrug:

With that said....this shyt is great :wow:

Nas sounds so fukking comfortable and in his pocket on here. You can tell he had fun making this. I fukks with Nasir but I got the opposite feeling on most of that - where it felt forced as fukk.

Wrote that shyt 3 times on purpose for some of you bombaclats.

Not a big Big Sean fan but he did his thing, actually all the features except for one killed it.

Hate to say it but Foxy didn't sound great :yeshrug: I can't blame her because of her condition AND having to follow up fukking Nas/AZ and Mega who sound like they never stopped rapping together. It was fun hearing her though but it is what it is :yeshrug:

My #2 is a ghost so it's impossible for him to compete with Nas at this point but Nas is just etching himself into stone as my #1. Up until LIG I always said Pac/Nas shared the #1 spot, since LIG I've given it to Nas and this further solidifies it. Nobody is coming close to those 2 for me, and Nas man.....fukk:wow:

One question for @Ziggiy and my Nas brehs, I've heard it 8 times and it STILL sounds to me like Nas is saying he wishes his pops died instead of his moms. I haven't checked genius yet for lyrics but am I bugging?

"Pops here, moms gone wishing God reversed the roles" :picard:

Yea that caught me too. I was like :gucci: when I heard it. I had to play it back a few times to make sure I wasn’t missing something

I am pretty sure he means that he would rather take the place of his mother, so she could live. That's how much he loved her.
