Bruh Nas Bridge The Gap, I'm 43 year's old, started listening to hip hop in 1983, my very first song I remember hearing was Grandmaster Flash and The Furious 5 White Lines riding with my pop in his Monte Carlo

I lived the Culture watching Beat Street in the Movie Theater, Break Dancing to Lodi Dodi, Listening to Run DMC, scratching my Dad Records Up, Doing Graffiti, Bumping LL Cool J, Too Short Freaky Tales

My era Coming of Age was 1988 I was 11 rocking African Medallions with a Raider Hat. De La Soul, NWA, Kane, Rakim. 88-96 was my era

And I don't fukk with these new cats if it wasn't for Nas I wouldn't give ASAP Ferg, Fivo or Lil Durk a listen

And on Spicy I don't know if it was Ferg or Fivo but somebody was spitting I was like okay alright, I fukks with that

I'm a stuck In the 90's dude

What's crazy is that IWW backlash had to be just a critic thing or some corny East Coast shyt Because in Chicago when it hit it was like a napalm bomb. That's when Chicago started looking at Nas might be the greatest ever. Then Nas mutilated the street Dreams remix with Kellz and it was over. Most people from the Chi(and everywhere outside of the East Coast) heard IWW before they heard Illmatic. We never heard of any backlash until the early 2000s when the Internet got more prevalent. We never knew some people/"purists" disliked it. And all I can think of when I heard about the backlash is you nikkas must be the corniest nikkas of all time Q tip or whoever..... weirdos.... smh
It Was Written was what made Lupe want to become a rapper. Hell the "Fiasco" comes from "Firm Fiasco"
