Nas is never going to be a critical darling again and a lot of reviews will bring up Kelis. Those are facts you have to deal with. If you love the album why do you care what reviews have to say? It’s clearly been well received, people like it, and I suspect that hip hop centered sites will give it good reviews. XXL, Hip Hop DX, DEHH, etc.

I knew this was coming when multiple “culture” folks on twitter completely ignored the album’s release. Not a single tweet or mention. It’s obvious what’s going on and it’s clearly about Kelis. Who cares, fukk em.

Nah

We truly are forgetting about how acclaimed and celebrated Life Is Good was within the culture, the mainstream, and the critics. That album was getting JUST as much love as KD is getting now and i simply can’t BELIEVE that the collective conscious is trying to erase that.

Its like Nas isn’t allowed to have a classic album after Stillmatic. Hip Hop Is Dead was celebrated and acclaimed when it dropped and as soon as Untitled was announced the narrative was revised to “Hip Hop Is Dead was a disappointment”. Untitled got incredible reviews and was being used as a teaching tool for Professors in certain colleges. Then Distant Relatives was announced and the narrative was revised as “Untitled was unfocused and he put the best songs on The ****** Tape”. Then Life Is Good was announced and the narrative for DR was revised to “Nobody asked for a Nas/.Damien Marley album”

Now we’ve got King’s Disease and people want to act like the album was full of Summer On Smashes when it was a fukking masterpiece and EVERYONE loved it when it dropped

shyt is absurd
I get the frustration but breh, stop letting these cacs and mofo's who don't even understand the culture get you so upset. fukk them..it's wasted energy, they're never gonna get it. I don't even read reviews.

I said it earlier on twitter but I really wish Hip Hop and black music outlets were prolific again in terms of reviews like how the source was. You're right these CaC review sites shouldnt matter but in absence of the commercial recognition he wont get I guess I was sort of hoping the album would get solid reviews. It still is but Im curious to see how these other sites give it. I dont even know if XXL does ratings anymore and the Source dont even do mics no more its crazy

Pitchfork critic has no legitimacy. Fact they thought the 10 brehs outside the projects were all trying to get the girl rather than just guys hanging out in the projects that you might get into an altercation with as Nas not from that hood shows he doesn’t know shyt about hip hop and where it came from

I notice these fakkit bloggers and critics giving it lukewarm, middling scores but not outright pans lol...they know the album has been embraced and beloved by the culture so they don't wanna seem too out of touch... but they still wanna low key hate cuz cac hipsters love to hate on Nas. shyt is basically a popularity contest to these fakkits.
