Juan Epstein was fine.
Certainly didn't sense any underlying issue with Nas
It's all about context....

That ish guy on Budden that's a different story. Should never be allowed to discuss Nas music

As many of you know, I have a brand new digital series titled Silver & Gold that premiered last month on a black owned media platform.

We just got accepted into our TENTH film festival and recently was won Best Web Series and Best Screenplay from the Oniros Film Awards.

As a celebration and also as a tribute to Nas we made a promotional video utilizing “Legit” for the theme music.

Check it out!

I agree with the earlier point they made about over inflating things because you're a fan. If everything is the greatest thing ever, nothing is the greatest thing ever IMO. And when less hardcore fans react with less than 100% positivity those people get mad.

The Illmatic thing...eh I get having it as a standard since it's one of the greatest rap albums ever, if not the greatest. But going into every Nas album thinking "oh man I wonder if he will top Illmatic this time" sounds insane to me lol. Some guys come out the gate with a defacto best album. If they never top it but string together a bunch of good to great followups how can you be mad? If anything it just makes their catalog better than their peers. DJ Shadow comes to mind. Ironically he released his last album on Mass Appeal lol and it was pretty good+. But his first album is a defacto "one of the greatest albums ever" and fans haggled and bytched about his later work despite him having good to great projects beyond the first album.

What's even crazier is nobody else really gets that except Nas...even people who have albums that are on that level. If Snoop just gives us a decent album, the people/critics will be thankful af, nobody is thinking "It aint Doggystyle tho...). Etc...

That's why I kind of wish Nas never did the big anniversaries and tours and shyt surrounding Illmatic because it just makes it even harder to escape its shadow.

Yall think Nas over-raps/over-rhymes sometimes? Like he's too wordy? Lil discussion I was having at the barbershop today. I think that's what some of these hatin ass publications who talk about his flow being messed up really mean...he's madd wordy.

Post-Stillmatic I think the flow/cadence is way more sped up or sumn. His voice has changed a lot too, it's not as grimy/gutter/cool as it was.

Sounds almost like a different MC. Both are better than pretty much everybody tho, lol.

Yes

Do y'all REALLY have no desire to hear a Premier album?

Nas ain't gonna put out any bullshyt at this point in his career. If it drops its bound to be dope

I'd like to hear it. Doesn't have to be a whole album.
