KD3 is better than Killer Mike’s album and it’s also higher rated critically. People get it confused because Killer Mikes album came out 2023 and Nas’ came out in 2022. People keep thinking Nas’ Magic albums are going up against Killer Mike’s.
Agreed
In a perfect world Killer Mike walks away with Best Rap Song in a rout and really Best Rap Performance too (though that’ll go to Kendrick and Keem guaranteed) and Nas takes Best Rap Album
But I don’t foresee the Grammys going against their long established formula of awarding the highest selling of the bunch and calling it a day.
Unless Nas has garnered a lot of goodwill behind the scenes from the Hip Hop is 50 celebrations and people want to award him for both the album, his run as a whole with Hit-Boy (lets not discount that Hit-Boy got into the General Field) plus the work he and Mass Appeal did for Hip Hop 50.
@Piff Perkins has an in with Grammy voters and said that in 2022 it was very close between Nas and Tyler for Best Rap Album so there’s still plenty of respect Nas has amongst voters.
I’d say this is actually his second best chance of winning of all of his 17 nominations besides 2021 when he actually did win.
