With all that said, as usual, stuff like this gets too much traction. Meanwhile, the injustices that do occur and are extremely detrimental don't get the proper attention. She should not have tweeted that because everyday living is not Hollywood. It's not their circle of friends where the sting of that word is removed because they're all on the same playing field. Quite frankly, whatever "pass" she has is not extended to the entirety of the black community where there are significant segments of the population that dislike the usage of the word period.
I barely say it anymore so I'll be damned if every white person that walks past me feels they can say it. Out of respect for people who are not cool with the word being used she should not have said it. With that said, I have friends that have used the word around me before who are white (they don't do it frequently) and I don't get upset or think much of it because I know those guys would go to war with me before most people would. So I can understand what Ye, Hov and Nas are saying.
But they would never even dream of rapping along those lyrics or saying those things outside of our circle or in front of my parents, etc. She was wrong for not recognizing that we still haven't figured just what we want that word to mean and how we want it to exist in our society, in any of its forms. I'm sure Em, Paul Wall and others use it around their friends but they would not do it in a public forum. There's nothing more public than the internet these days. That's my two cents.
It should not be getting this much traction. But she was still wrong to an extent.
I'm pretty sure she didn't mean any harm by this, but it doesn't change the fact that her comments were incredibly stupid, insensitive, and disrespectful. And its not hard to see why some would be offended.

These cats should have just pulled her aside and tell her to not tweet that or say that because its a bad look and theres a high chance you may get hurt. You don't have to disown her, you don't have to start dissing her or punch her in the face, Just a simple check and she most likely would have followed.
