It might've been crazy to say it then, but Lost Tapes may actually be a better album than Stillmatic overall. Granted, Lost Tapes doesn't have "One Mic", "2nd Childhood", "Rewind", "Stillmatic Intro", "Ether", "What Goes Around", "You're Da Man" or "Every Ghetto", but it still has some of Nas's best songs.

Lost Tapes has songs that sound like poetic journal entries. It's a very introspective piece of work that was more revealing of who Nas is than I Am was.

Stillmatic vs LT1 is very tough. Stillmatic has more songs so its uneven to begin with but some of the matchups are ridiculous
Doo Rags vs Stillmatic intro :dead: :damn:
No Ideas Original vs You're da Man:dead::dead:
Rewind vs Blaze a 50:damn:
Purple vs 2nd Childhood:sadbron:
If you add Rise & Fall Amongst Kings to make it even, I think LT1 wins. Or remove whatever the 2 weakest tracks on Stillmatic to make it 12 vs 12. It's just hard to find a flaw on LT1 shyt is damn near flawless. Maybe Everybody's Crazy but to me that's nitpicking because everything else on there is incredible:damn:

Ehhhh. Those songs would have stuck out like a sore thumb on Stillmatic

I remember the week this dropped I bought the FUBU presents 54th Platoon album, and my homeboy bought The Lost Tapes.

Turns out I lost
For those who don't know who 54th Platoon is

this is the most nostaglic Nas album for me, i know exactly what was going on in my life and remember bumping this for the first time

-enjoying a CDQ version of Fetus after playing the bootleg version for years
-loving Nas working with that new kid Alchemist
-the return of somber, reflective Nas
-U Gotta Love It. top 5 joint of his for me, you can tell the time period it was recorded in with the bars. i adore that song and always have

The 54th Platoon album was horrible in 2002, so I can imagine what it sounds like 2020
