nas has been and was always recognized as an artist (not just a rapper) before kanye and kendrick made that term popular among rap fans!!!

I put Lost Tapes as my personal GOAT album in the recent thread. I really like TPAB and how well it is produced and constructed on all levels. However, the lyricism on Lost Tapes is what makes it so strong even as a compilation of unreleased tracks. I'm a stan of both artists right now so I don't know where I stand but glad to see this thread.

From a lyrical perspective Nas shyt is definitely better, to me Kendrick's lyricism was a bit overshadowed by the samples and live instrumentation. His bars while good didn't blow me away like some of Nas work on Lost Tapes. Kendrick's shyt is more conceptual, artistic and cohesive I will say.

I've been spinning Lost Tapes for years it's a classic to me, let's see if this Kendrick album gets there.

Honestly Nas isn't that good of an artist IMO, hes still a goat and one of my favorite rappers but I'd put the likes of Kendrick, cole, Eminem, drake, Lupe, kanye and a lot of newschool rappers ahead of him on that "best artists" list

How are you saying this if Nas is one of your favorite rappers? If you truly believe this then you obviously don't listen to Nas. The amount of concepts the man has executed, even switching his voice to female, songs in the perspective of a gun some amazing things that guys on the list wished they could do.

I just heard the Kendrick album for the first time today. I was blown away by some of the shyt I heard on that record and I'm definitely looking foward to spinning it a few more times to fully digest it, but what is all this "artist" "musically" "just a rhymer" shyt in this thread? Is this kind of ridiculous hyperbole going on in the Kendrick album thread?

Lets be honest breh, this is a pretty stupid thread to begin with. What kind of comparison is this?

One is a classic collection of unreleased tracks by one of the best to ever do it, that was released 12/13 years ago. The other is an extremely dope album that has been out for 2 weeks.....

I criticize a lot of Nas' music but at him not being a great artist. Kendrick is talented but Nas was seen as a GOD. Nikkas worshiped him and shyt. Nas has experimented just as much as Kendrick and probably more. He's spoken on a plethora of issues and more potently than Kendrick has. His pops is a damn Jazz legend.
