It seems like when it comes to Nas for some people, great or classic is the only standard, and good isn't good enough. Meanwhile, all their other favorites never get held to the same standards.

Its because he made Illmatic and It Was Written. Once you reach THOSE highs straight out the gate some people just can’t envision Nas not making all of their “Rap Hero” dreams come true.

Michael Jackson had the same standards applied to him as well. Dude damn near drove himself insane making Bad and it might be safe to say he DID drive himself insane making Dangerous.

How about rap about the shyt that's CURRENTLY going on in his life and not about kicking it in QB drinking 40's? nikka is making business moves and is super rich there is certainly more going on be foreal. Nas rehashing stories from his 20's in his 50's.
Nostalgia and reflecting on the past will always be apart of Nas game.. This same dude came into the game as a teenager and took u down Memory Lane on his 1st album lol He's not for u anymore. Just move on. Me personally I think his ability to paint pictures of the past is one of his greatest strengths.

While all of this may be true I can still be subjective about this. This shyt is mid even in comparison to the other 4 with Hitboy. Y'all in here acting like I'm calling Nas trash. I'm just saying this album isn't good.

I would rather hear him reflect on the past and tell those old war stories occasionally than most current BS. Talking about being rich and all these business moves was a problem Jigga had. People felt he was bragging, and most brothas weren't livin' like that. They were in the streets or out there grindin' working a real job. I'm not broke by any means, but I ain't rich like that, so I don't want to hear anybody braggin' and flossin' they shyt.

I'm actually not a fan of the album.
Just disagreed with u on the content part. I hope Nas never goes away from his signature reflecting style.

He's great at it.. He's always been able to paint vivid pictures and make the past sound like the most amazing times. He's gifted at that.

He's talked about everything from being a little kid to being a young rapper to current politics to concept tracks to just talking shyt to recent relationships and business deals on these albums

I never heard him talk about recording Fast Life or the Car 85 stories or the Death Row East stories before so I'm cool hearing the details in a song.

Of all rappers to complain about talking the same shyt in all the time, you chose Nas? :why:
Dude wrote a song in reverse, made a kids joint of Fur Elise, Made a club joint mentioning slavery, did a jazz joint with his pops, made a whole reggae album with Jr Gong and this dude talking about Nas talks about the same thing :deadrose:

Nothing wrong with doing a little bit of both. Nas has held us down with everything throughout his career. He should flex a little. Especially with all the narratives that has been spread about him. Jay on the other hand has done way less of covering topics that Nas has. Nas has earned the right to discuss any and every topic and if that includes flexing a little a black man that has made it out of QB and is here today happy and healthy so be it.
