It’s the quintessential ‘if this was 16 songs it’s 5 mics’ album. There are absolutely 16 A+ level songs on there.

But….he wanted to be Chris brown and drop a 30 song album

Listening to that album is INFURIATING. I very rarely do the “make your own album” playlist thing but I HAD to do that for Drillmatic because the 12-15 fire songs on that album just do NOT deserve to be buried next to all the fukking filler.

Game is insane and his team was dumb for letting him put all that tracks on that album

I never thought that release date shyt was a big deal. Nas didn’t even care about that when they asked him on the breakfast club. Back in the CD era it took MONTHS to properly formulate a marketing and release strategy for albums. Ya’ll REALLY think Jay-Z was going to Lyor Cohen and demanding to release his albums on the same day as Nas on some battle shyt? He would’ve been laughed out of the office. You think Jay gonna tell Beyonce they gonna plan a release date based on competing with Nas? She woulda probably slapped that nikka silly. Release dates are BUSINESS decisions not battle tactics

I don't think this is how it works lmao. Nas probably had this date planned out at least a month or two in advance. He's not gonna slap an album of loosies together to fukk with Jay for doing some museum shyt lol.

I'm not into disrespecting our legends especially the ones responsible for the foundation of Nas sound. I'll say this the nikkaz how don't feel HB or whatever "It's not old Nas not the same" do you hold every legend to that same standard? I don't say turn off No Hook from Jay because it's not D'Evils or DP2. Do nikkaz not see how ridiculous that is? or Prodigy Rotten Apple because it's not Quiet Storm

Of course not, the album wasn’t recorded in response to Jay. But 1- these days artists can decide when to drop an already completed project on short notice, and/or 2- just like the album date may have been decided months out, that jay library rollout date was also know months out to everyone in the industry
