i know its dumb early... but this is a classic.....
😳 Nah.

It’s dope tho, I like it even more now than I did originally and I liked it from the gate. It’s not a classic tho, definitely got some so-so moments, not many but some…and there’s nothing here that really feels timeless like how classics be feeling. But that’s alright…still fire, if I was grading it like a test I’d give it an 80-85…B’ish. Not a B+, imho.

Quick thoughts:

I felt like Nas & Hit were too much in cruise control on first listen, it felt like a solid project overall

On second listen, album hit harder...can't pinpoint what changed but the album is cohesive & thematic

I don't want Nas to go back to the grimey 90s style bc he's been there & done that...so I don't want a Preemo project...I also don't want a full Alchemist project, just 1 or 2 tracks on a project from him, that's it

Nas voice isn't as sharp as it was on KD2, Magic & KD3...could be a product of so much recording & touring

Also, I do think Hit could use some additional production to add that umph from a Timbo...the way Kanye used Tim to help with the drums on Graduation

I didn't get the highs of KD2, KD3 and Magic...this is just a consistent body of work, nothing more nothing less

I do like that this project is different than the others & Nas gives the ppl variety...it's something for everyone in his catalogue

Album is an 8/10 for me on this third day
Run in back a few more times. As fans we unfairly place Nas in a box comparing his current work to our personal favorites.

took my son to watch the Force Awakens. I was super excited based on what Star Wars meant to me as a kid. My son hated the movie, thinks it’s silly. These young kids don’t care about some old as Luke Skywalker and I never wanted to be old Ben Kenobi.
The new listeners don’t know or care about the BBQ, Illmatic or IWW Nas. They’re just meeting him.

The music has changed and maintaining pieces of the 90’s Nas while traveling through 3 generations of listeners is truly amazing

This is facts. I had zero interest in a Hit Boy album, or the stuff he's doing with his dad...because while I like him as a producer he's not one of my favorites, and the projects didn't catch my interest at all. Whereas I'm gonna listen to every Alchemist project until I die (except for Larry June shyt lol). The love is one sided with the stans. If Nas had done four albums with Soulja Boy on the beats they'd have that in their top 10 yearly, be saying he's one of the best young producers in the game, and dapping him up at every chance (while simultaneously not listening to any new non-Nas related music from him).
:dead:

That's not true because a lot of Nas fans used to hate on Salem remi

We have an Alchemist/Illmatic coalition here that is making this unbearable at times.

They refuse to listen to the album with an open mind or respect Nas choice to work with Hit. Bless them though.

This shyt knocks in the whip like an muufukka and Nas floating on beats like wata. Like Wata.

Edit: And can we get away from ranking albums in the catalog hours and days after it drops. Give this shyt time to breathe.

I agree.. I really wasn’t a huge fan of the first magic.. when it dropped I just said oh well I will catch the next one or listen to the old stuff..

I actually think this one is better..
Why people feel to campaign and persuade others about these albums are ridiculous at the end of the day it’s all based on opinions

The bars were dope, is just his voice and moreso his flow which he is accustomed for were :flabbynsick:
I don’t even think it’s age because he’s been doing that for a grip…making his voice sound darker and deeper and ā€œharderā€ā€¦that shyt is trash, lol. It’s not trash but it’s not 50…he always had a kinda high pitched, wild ass, lowkey squeaky type voice…that was one of his doper attributes to me.

ā€œThey say I don’t sound like a killer, well, how a killer sound?ā€ā€¦bro be trying hard to sound like a killer now lol

Right, it’s the way he sounds pretty much.
