Even though the BET awards are pretty irrelevant at least they make an effort to honor Hip Hop. In a just world Nas would win this award but u never know with BET. I feel that if he's nominated for lyricist of the year then he should also be up for Album of the Year. Cuz im pretty sure there basing his lyricist nomination of the strength of LIG.

He was nominated for best Rap Album in 96, 99, 07, 09 for IWW, I Am, Hip Hop Is Dead and Untiltled respectively. He was nominated for best short form music video in 02 for One Mic, he got a nomination for his collaboration with AZ (The Essence) and Beastie Boys (Too Many Rappers) the song Slave And Master was nominated for Best Rap Song in 09 as well.
He's never won though, fukking travesty and disgrace to Hip Hop that Diddy has several Grammies and Nas has NONE
