Ether was dope, it was the demeanour and the narrative that was dope and made it hit even harder. He was talking to him like he was just sonin' him (naturally) the whole time. How effected Jay seemed by it also made it sound even more prophetic and deadly, Jay was genuinely burnt by it so that burn slow shyt was actually the truth. I'm sure till this day it's a sore spot. After that people started using shyt Nas said about Jay there much more. People diss the beat nowadays but I love the beat, it fits the shyt perfectly to me, it sounds hard, menacing. He hit Jay with the right amount of truth and the right amount of insults, it was more personal than Takeover in a way, it went at his character and made the perception of Jay alter to some or reinforced what they already thought while putting Nas as the innocent dude who retaliated cause of the attacks, the underdog position also. I fukk with both records though, Takeover was dope too, but I think that damaged Mobb Deep more than it did Nas ultimately.
