I hope Gibbs wins even though Nas is the most deserving. Crazy he doesn't already have one.

Looks like they got rid of the stuffy judges and have people on the board who actually know their hip-hop. Respective list of nominees.

they have people who understand a certain lane, for sure. but you can’t say they know hip hop when arguably hip hop’s two biggest newcomers (pop smoke and lil baby) get snubbed.

pop was on his way to becoming the biggest nyc artist since cardi when he passed. and his album delivered. baby is already one of the biggest artists in the south.

don’t care how you feel about their music; they both earned nominations. and I would argue both of their albums are better than royce’s, at least.

You can’t get into Nas best album since Gods’Son?

:comeon:

Life is Good is way better than King’s Disease, stop it.

Stay >>>>>> anything on that album. And that ain’t the best song on LiG.

Untitled and Distant Relatives are also better imo. Minus that bullshyt song with Joss Stone, Distant Relatives is a borderline classic.

Mannnnnnnnnnn shout out to Royce, proud he finally got some recognition from them. Esp for a more underground artist like him that’s super impressive.

Nas had the album of the year as far as I’m concerned but as long as Jay Elect don’t win for his bullshyt album I’m cool with it

So you saying Lil Baby and Pop Smoke are considered more hip hop than Nas, Royce and Gibbs? Seems like you just want them to focus on the newcomers than the established artists.
I'm just not on the Lil Baby train like that. I mean I like his music but it's not good enough to hold my attention for AOTY consideration. RIP Pop Smoke but thats about where it ends for me. His music was very disposable for me as well. Now I agree Jay Elec should be nowhere on this list. RTJ4 should've made the cut IMO. Like you said they newcomers (at least Lil Baby) they'll have more opportunities.

It’s not about being more into newcomers, or who’s more hip hop. It’s about respecting all sides of the game.

Under what criteria, other than personal preference, do pop and baby not deserve nominations? Baby is arguably the most impactful 25-and-under MC in the game. As for pop... when Jadakiss, French, Jim Jones and half the city are rapping over drill beats... who’s responsible for that?

Not trying to slight those who were included. Honestly, it’s more in line with what I fukk with. But for the Grammys to truly get it right, they can’t cater to one audience.
