Nas lost

Nas sucks

Nas is not even top 100

/thread

Haha... I'm not even one to debate this shyt or care about arguing... But this is one of the main reasons why Hip Hop can only get so far, lack legacy acts, be taken serious... When people don't respect legends, overlook their history, acknowledge their success; this only hurts the genre.... When a quality act like Nas is hated upon in the Hip Hop community, not even by online avatars, but by journalists and other artist within the genre, this deeply cripples Hip Hop. It's one thing to be a Jay fan and all, but to discredit the work that Nas has done is retarded (and I'm a Jay and Nas fan)...

You don't see artist & fans in other genre's completely shytting on and not respecting a legends work. A bunch of people who are rock fans might not like Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Stooges and The New York Dolls, but people still respect their music and what they have accomplished. When you have legends in music, it helps heighten the longevity of the music.

But hey, I guess Jay Z is the only unanimous legend in rap that people agree on, everyone else is flabby and sick & their old music sounds dated.... I guess this is why hip hop will stay in its same place

I usually don't care about shyt like this.. but seeing what's happening to Hip Hop is sickening.... The whole genre seems to be turning into a "what have you done lately" genre, with "here today, gone tomorrow" being acceptable... What's even more sickening is that the artist have a major play into these factors...

And as big of a Jay fan as I am, it's crazy to think that he is the only Legend in hip hop that everybody accepts and can come to an agreement on... Like if the world ends tomorrow, he would be the only person in the history books for hip hop (Eminem doesn't count, he's an artist bigger than Hip Hop).

And Nas is the GOAT in my book but this shyt needs to stop. The Grammy has never been about shyt... Eminem won best album with Encore if im not correct. Evanessence beat 50 for best new artist. After his monster year in 03. Its not that serious keep it moving.

Late Registration won, not Encore. They got it right.

Yes they do.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers' journey from goof-offs to elder statesmen of rock has been a long and checkered one, and say what you want about them, they're a truly successful and influential band at this point. Which is unfortunate, because they are terrible. Their career can roughly be divided into two chunks: the chunk in which they gleefully pickpocketed funk music even as its corpse was still cooling, and their time as tattooed representatives of '90s alternativeness. Neither could be called artistically successful.

We need to get rid of this myth that fans of other genres are more respectful and wise than hip-hop fans.

The majority of the comments were going against what he said though (about nirvana). I'm not saying you have to enjoy all legends work, but to completely dismiss what they've done is fukking shyt up. Even if you read the RHCP link u posted, people are saying their newer material is bad, but showing respect to the older stuff. AND everybody is not going to like one thing, but when the majority of ur genre's music looks past what you've done, it doesn't help the credibility of the genre.
