I remember still heavily listening to Stillmatic at the time. When this shyt came out it damn near never left my CD player and put Stillmatic on the backburner. shyt was the soundtrack to my life. shyt traveled with me everywhere I went.
fam I swear the day that shyt dropped we cut school listened to Nothing Lasts forever like 100 times chillin the PJ's

You should live, there's only one life, that's the physical
Rich or poor or in jail, why the fukk should you be miserable?
Things happen for reasons, the clock keeps tickin'
Love could have your heartbeat skippin', thugs turn to religion
The bytch you love could start to hate you
The shyt you used to do escape you
Things that make you laugh represent the past
Reminisce the block, gamble Gs on the floor
nikkas use to be the man, you don't see 'em no more
Your favorite restaurants and favorite stores, they tore 'em down
Turned 'em into shopping malls, the hood is like a ghost town
Haunted by souls who thought that time stood still
Just live your life to the fullest, never look back, it's real
:wow: no drug dealer fantasies just real perspective :wow:

This is my favorite Nas album and probably my favorite rap album of all time. there’s better albums, but it’s my favorite.

I never heard the leaks so it was new to me at the time. It defined my life when it came out and has been there ever since.
I never heard the leaks either. The only things I'd heard off this was Everybody's Crazy and I'd heard a different beat for No Idea's Original, but I like the Lost Tapes version better. So this was 99% fresh material for me.

I almost wish he didn't call it The Lost Tapes. nikka shoulda gave it a proper title so more people would've been drawn toward it. I ain't gonna lie tho if u had Optimum's IO service back then they had music stations on the TV and the hip hop station on that shyt would play tracks from Lost Tapes and all kinda shyt so that's how certain nikkas I knew got put on to certain tracks off it like Drunk By Myself and Purple. shyt would have the song, album it came from and a small bio on the artist.

2020 or 2002? Either way real shyt was going on. Lol. 2002 we was still dealing with 9/11 aftermath. 2020 the pandemic.

Nah 2020
during the pandemic
i always liked the album… but it was written was always my favorite
but that year this clicked something crazy with me and pretty much became a top 5/10 album for me

this album
No Juice by Boosie
and Rap n Roll by Dom Kennedy were soundtracks to that year:to:

Yessir. And it only spans like 2-3 years tops. It’s def an album.

You notice the "not an album" crowd always the first to hold the retail I Am and Nastradamus against him though :mjpls: the agenda is obvious.

Artists used to go 3-4 years or more between albums all the time. Acting like a cohesive project recorded over 3-4 years don't count because the songs wasn't originally intended for a single project and a few of em got bootlegged make no sense. It's dudes who don't want to give Nas credit but can't criticize the quality of the music. So they got to invent imaginary guidelines.

Death of Escobar was a dope title and would have worked. Only other criticism is wish they included a couple more of the I Am tracks like Rise & Fall and Amongst Kings.

Simplest way to put it all original music? no reused verses? Were you able to purchase in stores? sounds like an album to me :ohhh: :yeshrug:

Yeah, we had pretty much the whole album here in NYC, in the late 90's.

Whether it was album cuts that didn't make it, or joints on mixtapes back then. But they were all from when Nas was at his peak, so getting them again, all on one project made for probably his third best album ever! Dude was untouchable during the recording of those, so TLT is definitely a classic.

Peak Nas.

His best album.

Of course it's a real album

Yes, it's better than Illmatic.

Yes, Lost Tapes 2 is garbage.

Yes, there should have been 3 or 4 PROPER sequels.

The Nas stan coalition need to convince him and stop accepting mediocrity.
