The outer limits
Depends on the subject matter your into...

Both are great lyricist, but they rap about different subjects and use their styles differently. I think Lupe destroys nas in terms of metaphors and wordplay, but Nas destroys Lupe in imagery and story telling.

It's not fair to compare them only as lyricist though, I think it's better to compare them on subject matter.

I think if we all broke down Lupes verses they would be considered more intricate then Nas...but niccas don't care about that these days. That's why Canibus never took off

Lupe is a one trick pony. Doom and Ghost are better at that whole obscure metaphor wordplay shyt.

Nas is a better vocalist. I was a big Lupe stan but dude's voice has always been his biggest weakness.

Nas has Shakespearean verses that Lupe could never touch

I see you talked but didnt post any... Youre one of those fakkets that doesnt get it. You dont have to post Lu's best lyrical performances to beat naS shyt. And Slaughterhouse doesnt have the shyt youre saying they do. And no, I dont see anything that makes naS above average other than storytellin, dude is plain basura.

And yes, album cuts are better than mixtape joints, which is why I laugh when fakkets say Lu should put mixtape shyt on albums... smarten up fakket
You know what ?
I could write up a long post about literary devices, beat choices, authenticity
and all that shyt but I know it'll fall on deaf ears.
You're a stan, so your prime directive is to post the most fallacious and
nonsensical shyt while attacking another posters credibility through venom
and spite.
Unlike you I don't have a personal stake in this, somewhere
along the line one of my posts hurt your feelings because I can see flaws
in Lupe that you can't as a casual fan of Hip Hop.

Whether it's weak production, terrible breath control,
credibility issues, or a weak skillset outside of wordplay
and metaphor.

And since you always wanna act like people are out
here faking the funk, I'll leave you with this.

IF you even make it this far feel free to check out the
following rappers :
Elzhi
Joe Budden
SKyzoo
KA (I get the feelin he'll go over your head....)
K-Rino
Killah Priest (his label album >>>>> lupe's last two)
Kendrick Lamar whom you affectionately refer to as "K.dot Minaj".

All are as nice as Lupe or even better in some cases (Skyzoo
and KA in particular :wow: )

Lupe got skillz I used to sleep on him heavily. He's similar to nas but he doesn't have that it factor, comes off as preachy and pretentious at times. Nas's imagery and story telling as well as being poetically grimey is a level about lupe. Lupe has flow and rhymes but he's still too corny to fukk with nas.

Failure isn't even the best exhibition of Lupe's lyrics.
There are slaughterhouse throw away tracks that have lyrics
just as hard.
If we're going to talk about excellence on the part of Lupe fiasco
then look no further than his first two albums.
He has whole songs that are fleshed out from beginning to
end that fit into whole overarching themes that shyt on a mixtape track.

On topic :
Nas is one of the GOATS.
If you can't understand WHY Nas is easily seeing
Lupe on the mic, then you're a fool easily blinded by
word play.
IMO Twilight Zone was the apex of who Lu is.

And tbh, Lupe's lane lyrically seems to be more along Jay's than Nas's. Both of them rely on big wordplay and layers of entendre. Only difference is that Hov also has flow heavily on his side, moreso than Lupe.

There should be a Lupe vs Jay thread :mynicca:

Failure is probably one of the most camouflaged tracks I've ever heard breh (next to Dimethyltriptamine by Jay Electronica). The whole 1st verse just Lupe being rap game's Verbal Kint :blessed:

Lupe is a better lyricist IMO, but Nas is a better writer, storyteller, and has created some crazy creative tracks that Lupe can't match. Lupe isn't being severely outclassed IMO tho, Nas picks horrid beats, and Lupe isn't much better. Not any rapper could've wrote Failure or Twilight Zone.

Lupe's only downfall to me, and this is coming from a Lupe stan, is at times he makes some lines overly complicated instead of leaving an easy one-line, or keeping a line a little shorter so that he can set up for an ever better line, he'll sometimes go into this spiral of unnecessary rhyming and use of words. Example comes from Piece of Paper/Cup of Jaysus "What would be funny is if I blew up after Drizzy and I started from the bottomless back to the topless like the watcher of strips" or w/e line. Unecessary for all of that. Sometimes it's dope, but even I recognize a long-winded punchline can be corny.
