I think him, Jay, Em are kinda in that semi-retired phase where they will only drop albums if they want and its not about that 2 year cycle like Rakim or KRS (And yeah I know he drops albums still but lowkey and not every 2 years...I think)

4 years since Life Is Good.

We all need some new Nas in our lives right now but if Life Is Good turned out to be his last full LP then I wouldn't complain. It's something we touched upon in the N A S T Y thread last week.

Still unbelievable that he doesn't have a Grammy :dwillhuh:

still unbelievable that so-called hip hop fans actually give a fukk about Grammys. I'm from a different era. shyt is weird as fukk to me.

fukk that, he better drop Lost Tapes 2 to go out on a high note. Life is Good was meh.

This was just a great album that covered different subject matters going on in his life at the time and ended off on a high note. What more do we want from him?

"Please Coli forgive breh, he knows not what he says"

I hear you breh and respect you sentiment but you shouldnt put shyt like this out in to the Universe.

When is the World not gonna need Gods Son?? Never!

So why would he forsake us like that??

Seriously though, dude is a writer, you dont get too old for that, I fully expect Nas to be on some Maya Aneglou shyt and offering jewels on the regular. His voice is an ill instrument but I fukks with his writtens so maybe even like a poetry ting,

I'd support that 100%. My nieces and nephews kids saying to me "have you heard of this guy Nasir Jones"

We getting more music beloved :blessed:

"It ain't gon never stop"

Nas has said continually that he plans on rapping until he's 80 so there is no retirement in sight

And hopefully he does. We as fans need to get rid of this rap is a young mans game mentality and support rappers as they age. Every other form of music does it, it would be nice to have a Johnny Cash of rap one day.

But on the flip the aging rappers need to mature and not find themselves at 45 rapping about the same things they did at 30. Rap about being a grandfather, or the prospect of dying of old age instead of through guns or drugs, or nostalgia, or whatever. Age gracefully through the music. Nas is on the right track with this, especially after Life is Good.

Nas is the only rapper that I can't wait to looking forward his next new rap album and I ain't rushing him, I just him want to drop a good solid album :ohlawd::noah:

Grown man rap. In fact, I really cant think of another Hip Hop record that embraces 30ish living. To be fair Jay has been forthcoming in his music regarding his age. He really has, but its easier and more natural to relate to Nas.

I need that new Nas :damn:

Now he's busy riding bikes through the city.

He might be rapping but he may not necessarily be dropping albums. Nas could be done in that department, in which case OP is right that Life is Good would make a fine last album.

:jbtable:

So, there's a chance I'll be an old G and hurt my neck :scusthov:'n to a ill Nas rhyme?

:jbtable: Nas ft. Knight - God's Grandson in 2040

I'd be disappointed. with all that's been happening the past 4 years I need that hungry angry untitled Nasir back

I don't think he will stop releasing albums any time soon e seems to be the type to put music out because he actually loves the craft. Artists in other genres go 10-15 years without albums as they get older. I hope it never gets that long for new Nas but I can wait as long as I have to because I know the quality will always be high

He's going to drop another one breh. When I don't know. But he'll definitely drop another one. Hell I actually think he'll drop several more over the next 10 years.

He's got one more album contractually under Def Jam.

He signed a deal through Mass Appeal (Distributed through Sony) to release music, which includes Lost Tapes 2. Mass Appeal is still slated to drop a compilation. DJ Premier has spoken about the Nas collaboration album and hinted it might be started on when Nas leaves Def Jam. There are literally ENDLESS possibilities for an artist as creative as Nas to go with.

Where's the music :sadbron:

The GOAT is worth the wait

Still unbelievable that he doesn't have a Grammy :dwillhuh:

Ehh. It's a good album but having one of the greatest rappers of all time (if not the best) go out without rapping over top tier beats would be disappointing to me. I like No ID and enjoy what he did, it's an improvement over his previous albums. But my god, literally every dope producer wants to work with Nas yet he seems to have zero interest them.

Summer On Smash is one of the worst beats I've heard on a noteworthy album in the last 5 years. Reach Out is tired as fukk, a breakbeat and sample that has been done before. World's An Addiction and You Wouldn't Understand aren't bad but just forgettable to me (beat wise).

I'm cool with Life Is Good being his last album.
But for the next album, he's probably looking for that next saga. LIG was about his divorce and embracing life as a single man in his late 30s/early 40s with children.
Now that he's lived that life for 4 years now, I would imagine he's looking for that next phase to create an album about.
