its wild to think that most science fiction is the product of inspired graphics designersI will attempt to have a serious discourse.
The actual images are in part wavelengths of light that are not visible to the human eye.
The output from the actual data might resemble a black and white photo.
But you end up with multiple images. Infared. Ultraviolet. Visible light. And whatever they are detecting.
Then. They colorize the different layers. The result is something that the human eye cannot completely register. It includes the information from wavelengths our eyes cannot see.
So yes. It is "photoshopped". There is an artistic element to these images. They are designed to sum up all the information the telescope can record. And it adds resolution to the image.
