It's one of his worst, if not the worst, album, why defend it? It would be a decent album for an average commercial rapper, but we're talking about Nas in here. Fortunately he redeemed himself a bit with Stillmatic.

Nothing to force

Even the single was hard
I still bang in the whip with the top down

This shyt was hard tho…

The problem wit this album was that nas was using production and sounds that had been played out, the beat by primo feels like it’s outdated and yesteryear, the Mobb deep song the same and so on, project windows is also great but this album being bootlegged caused him to have to use these throw away tracks I believe…..

Cuz lost tapes sounded ahead of its time when it came out in like 02’ and some of those joints was supposed to be for Nastradamus ….. woulda made that album a classic

I definitely think it’s one of his most underrated albums, not because it poorly sold…it actually was a success but in terms of quality. There was some really good songs on this. With the album being rushed, I think Nas did a respectable job but is it near the top of his catalog? Nah.

Let’s keep it a buck…Nastradamas is better than some of these rappers best albums lol That’s how incredible Nas’s catalog is.

Classics
Life We Choose
Project Windows
Come Get Me
Shoot Em Up

Good-Average
God Love Us
Some Of Us Have Angels
Last Words
Quiet nikkas
Family

Below Average-Trash
Nastradamus
Big Girl
New World
Owe Me

You Owe Me
im always on the fence about…I don’t hate it, but I rarely play it. I definitely remember the song in real time and it was a banger…I just don’t care to listen to it now:yeshrug:

Big Girl is unintentional comedy….shyt sounded like a parody.

Nastradamas (song)…wack

New World…I see what Nas was trying to do but that lazy ass Toto sample and the corny ass hook/bad lyrics made it a skippable.

So yeah it’s a decent album…not as bad as the critics shytted on it.

There is really nothing to redeem Nastradamus. Outside of "Project Windows", I don't really consider anything else from that album an essential Nas song. Not saying the rest of the songs are wack, but you really hear the difference between classic Nas, above average Nas, and a Nas that sounds like he would rather be anywhere else but making an album. "Come Get Me", while good, is the weakest of the Nas/Premo joints. Up until this point, "Family" was the worst of the Nas/Mobb collabos. "Big Girl" is one of his worst songs ever. "Nastradamus" was his weakest single especially first single.

Even if the average rapper put this out, it would be an ok album. The only way this album becomes anything other than OK is if it were someone's debut or they had previous albums that were weaker. Otherwise, it's an OK album regardless of who put it out. This isn't an album I would give to someone to make a case of why Nas is GOAT. There's several Nas albums I would recommend before this one.

It's hard to try to argue this album is better than anything other than OK when Lost Tapes exist. The songs that were intended for this album are far better than what we got in '99. Then there's songs like "Rise And Fall", "Second Coming", "Wanna Play Rough", "Hustler/Killer", etc. that were from that era, but never made onto a Nas project aside from reused verses ("Second Coming")

Last Words is one of the greatest rap songs ever.

These are last words of a hanging slave
How could I forget this
I rob you put you on my hit list
Under my nails are dirty look at the grime
My burnt lips from the roach clips
How can I shine
Being broke and bag a dope bytch
Powerful mind we brave men
I blow smoke and I'ma keep sayin

I'ma prison cell six by nine
Living hell stone wall metal bars for the gods in jail
My nickname the can, the slammer, the big house
I'm the place many fear cause there's no way out
I take the sun away put misery instead
When you wit me most folks consider you dead
I saw too many inmates falling apart
Call for the gods and let them out when it's dark
Convicts think they alone but if they listen close
They can hear me groan touch the wall feel my pulse
All the pictures you put up is stuck to my skin
I hear ya prayers (even when ya whispering)
I make it hotter in the summer colder in the winter
If the court parole ya then another con enters
No remorse for your tears I seen em too often
When you cry I make you feel alive inside a coffin
Watch you when you eat play with you mind when you sleep
Make you dream that you free then make you wake up to me
Face to face with a cage no matter your age
I can shatter you turn you into a savage in rage
Change ya life that's if you get a chance to get out
Cause only you and I know what sufferings about
Yo it's stunning when bed sheets become your woman
And I'm the one that gotcha weapons when the beef is coming
Maybe one day I'll open up my arms to release you
You'll always be my property nikka stay legal

No matter how we slice the pie, Nastradamus will ALWAYS be near the bottom of Nas's catalog. Which Nas albums are we really below Nastradamus? Nasir? Street's Disciple? Hip Hop Is Dead? I personally feel all three are better than Nastradamus. Not necessarily a bad thing. In 1999, Nas had four albums. Nastradamus was definitely going down as his worst. He's released music since that album that is far more focused, consistent, and creative through and through and I actually like "You Owe Me".
Nasir isn’t better than Nastradamus. Take the 7 best songs off Nastradamus and it washes Nasir pretty easily honestly. HHID isn’t as bad as people make it at all. SD should’ve been one disc.

Last Words ain’t redeemable? And u ever been to a concert when Nas drops You Owe Me? Matter fact look at the crowd reaction when Tim dropped it during Versuz. That right there should tell u what u need to know.
